Town of Silt, 2009
The Town of Silt Comprehensive Plan has been adopted and is the result of the dedication of community representatives and elected and appointed officials. In addition to the Board of Trustees, Planning and Zoning Commission, and Citizen's Advisory Committee, we would like to thank the citizens, town staff, business owners, Coal Ridge High School students, landowners of Silt and interested citizens in the surrounding area who participated in the planning process.
Recognition
The Town of Frederick was the first community to adopt the Model Land Use Code for Colorado's Small Communities in 2002. We are proud to be the first firm to implement the Model Land Use Code as the town planning consultants in the Town of Frederick. Our implementation of the Code resulted in an increase in the Town's sales tax revenue, 650 acres of open space preservation and diversification of the Town’s housing stock.
The Colorado Chapter of the American Planning Association presented the "Outstanding Project Award" to the Town of Frederick and Department of Local Affairs for the Model Land Use Code for Colorado's Small Communities. As the Town Planners during that time, we set forth revisions to the "conservation subdivision" portion of the Model Land Use Code to permit the use of IRS tax code compliant conservation easement tax credits. The project was executed with support of a Colorado Heritage Planning Grant that served as the basis for the Model Land Use Code for Colorado's Small Communities.
Carlin Barkeen, AICP of McCool Development Solutions, LLC accepted the award on the Town's behalf at the Chapter Awards Dinner in Vail, Colorado.
